YELCON™ NRFit® Spinal and Epidural needles

YELCON™ NRFit® spinal and epidural needles for safe neuraxial anaesthesia according to ISO 80369-6
YELCON™ NRFit® Spinal and Epidural needles

Product description

Precision is essential in subarachnoid anesthesia and diagnostic lumbar punctures. The needle must provide reliable access to the subarachnoid space with minimal tissue trauma and attention to patient comfort. A stable, well-controllable puncture supports the healthcare professional in performing the procedure efficiently and carefully.

The YELCON™ NRFit® spinal needles have been developed for the precise execution of spinal anesthesia and diagnostic punctures within neuraxial applications. The NRFit® connection complies with the ISO 80369-6 standard and is designed to help reduce the risk of incorrect connections between different administration systems.¹

This is practically achieved through a diameter 20% smaller than Luer connections, making an incorrect connection virtually impossible. In this way, NRFit® products contribute to a safe, standardized, and consistent working method for spinal and other neuraxial procedures.2

The YELCON™ NRFit® spinal needles are available in both Quincke and Pencil Point versions, allowing the choice to be tailored to clinical preference, puncture technique, and patient situation. The Quincke needle has a sharp, cutting point and is suitable for direct and controlled puncture. The Pencil Point needle is designed with an atraumatic tip, aimed at spreading rather than cutting the dural fibers. This can contribute to limiting tissue trauma and patient discomfort after the puncture.

Scientific literature shows that atraumatic Pencil Point needles are associated with a lower incidence of post-dural puncture headache compared to conventional cutting needles. Thus, the Pencil Point version supports a patient-centered approach in procedures where precision, control, and comfort are important.3

The YELCON™ NRFit® Tuohy needles have been developed for epidural application to support healthcare professionals in providing precise and controlled access to the epidural space. The signature curved Tuohy tip aids in targeted introduction and guidance of the epidural catheter for controlled placement into the epidural space.
