SteriFlow™ spinal needles have been developed for the precise execution of spinal anesthesia and diagnostic punctures. They are available in both Quincke and Pencil Point versions, allowing the choice to be tailored to clinical  reference, puncture technique, and patient situation.

The Quincke needle has a sharp, cutting tip and is suitable for a direct and controlled puncture. The Pencil Point needle is designed with an atraumatic tip, aimed at spreading rather than cutting the dural fibres. This can help limit tissue trauma and patient discomfort after the puncture. Scientific literature shows that atraumatic Pencil Point needles are associated with a lower incidence of post-dural puncture headache compared to conventional cutting needles.
