The pleura-safe® is used in the treatment of pleural effusions.

During the development of Pleura-safe®, the previous techniques were newly developed and simplified. This technique allows direct removal of fluid through the lancing needle (Veress needle) or the catheter.

The main features and benefits of Pleura-safe® are:
• Ready for immediate use
• latex free
• Safety lancing needle: type "Veres needle". Therefore a very low risk of injury
• Drainage of the pleural effusion: directly through the needle or through the catheter (actively using a syringe) for larger volumes. The device does not need to be switched on to aspirate the effusion through the catheter into the secretion bag.
• Easy to use: Innovative and special connections on the syringe, the secretion bag and the automatic three-way safety valve make Pleura-safe® completely interchangeable.
• Less manpower: This technique can be performed by only one person.
• The catheter can be left in place as a "mini" drain
• The catheter itself is radiolucent: its position can therefore be easily determined and therapy can be performed more efficiently.

1 x Catheter (8Ch) with integrated safety puncture needle (14G, 170mm) and the automatic 3-way valve
1 x 60ml Luer lock syringe
1 x 2000ml drainage bag with outlet
