AHN® myPlate® Petri Dishes are designed for preparing, incubating and evaluating microbiological cultures. The clear dishes are manufactured in a cleanroom and are available in aseptic and sterile versions. With a diameter of 91.5 mm, they provide a practical culture area in a compact and easily stackable format.
The range includes vented and non-vented versions. This makes it possible to select a Petri Dish suited to the required airflow and moisture retention during the culture process.
The vented Petri Dishes feature three ventilation cams. These create space between the dish and lid, supporting airflow and the release of excess moisture. The vented version is suitable for culture procedures in which gas exchange and moisture control are required.
The non-vented Petri Dishes limit airflow between the dish and lid. This retains more moisture inside the dish and helps reduce the risk of the culture medium drying out during incubation.
The appropriate version depends on the culture medium, microorganism, incubation period and required culture conditions.
The Petri Dishes are manufactured from clear polystyrene. Their transparent construction supports visual assessment of the culture medium and microbial growth without requiring the dish to be opened.
The polystyrene complies with the specifications of US FDA 21 CFR 177.1640. The catalogue also states that the raw materials comply with the guidelines of ISO 24998.
A raised rim supports the stable stacking of multiple Petri Dishes. This helps limit movement during manual stacking, transport and incubation and reduces the risk of the dishes scratching one another.
The lightweight construction and standardised diameter support efficient use of available space in incubators, refrigerators and storage areas.
Each production batch is supplied with a traceable lot number and information on sterility status and expiry. This supports batch registration and controlled use within laboratory workflows.
The Petri Dishes are compatible with medium-throughput, carousel-based systems for automated filling with culture media. As compatibility may differ between systems, users should confirm that the selected version is suitable for the relevant instrument before use. A compatibility chart is available on request.
