Delta Midline

Product description

The Delta Midline is a radiopaque, triple-layer polyurethane catheter intended for short-term peripheral venous access. The catheter is inserted into a deep peripheral vein, such as the basilic, cephalic or median cubital vein, using the modified Seldinger technique.

Once inserted, the Delta Midline provides peripheral venous access for a period of less than 30 days for:

• Administration of medication
• Blood sampling
• Administration of contrast media

The catheter consists of three polyurethane layers. A central layer of Tecothane™ provides mechanical strength, while the inner and outer Carbothane™ layers contribute to the catheter’s flexibility, abrasion resistance, haemocompatibility and chemical resistance.

This material composition allows the Delta Midline to combine the softness and flexibility of silicone elastomers with the mechanical properties of polyurethane. The catheter also softens at body temperature, increasing patient comfort and helping to reduce the risk of irritation to the blood vessel and surrounding tissue.

The Delta Midline is available as a 25 cm single-lumen catheter in 3, 4 and 5 Fr sizes. The catheter has an open, non-tapered distal tip and is marked in centimetres. If required, the distal end of the catheter can be trimmed to the desired length before insertion.

Suitable for power injection

The Delta Midline withstands a maximum injection pressure of 325 psi and can therefore be used for the administration of contrast media with a suitable power injector.

The maximum power-injection flow rate depends on the catheter size:

• 3 Fr: maximum 3 ml/sec
• 4 Fr: maximum 5 ml/sec
• 5 Fr: maximum 5 ml/sec

The specified maximum pressure and flow rate must not be exceeded. Always consult the applicable instructions for use before using the product.

Complete procedure kit

The Delta Midline is supplied as a complete procedure kit for insertion using the modified Seldinger technique. Two versions are available:

• Basic: without a securement device and protective IV dressing
• Advanced: including a sutureless securement device and protective IV dressing

Customised kit configurations are available upon request.
