Deep Well Plates provide a practical solution for processing, mixing and storing larger sample volumes in a standardised 96-well format. The range includes clear plates with a capacity of 1.0, 2.0 or 2.2 mL per well. Different well geometries make it possible to select a version suited to the laboratory protocol and equipment being used.
The plates are manufactured in an ISO 8 cleanroom and are designed for both manual and automated laboratory workflows. Their dimensions comply with ANSI/SLAS microplate standards, supporting use with many commonly used liquid-handling systems, plate handlers and other compatible laboratory equipment.
The Deep Well Plates are available in several configurations:
A round or U-shaped bottom supports efficient mixing and liquid collection. A V-bottom concentrates the sample at the bottom of the well and helps reduce the residual volume during aspiration. The appropriate configuration depends on the sample volume, equipment and protocol requirements.
The Deep Well Plates withstand temperatures ranging from -80 to 121 °C. They can therefore be used for storing samples and reagents in refrigerators and freezers, as well as for laboratory processes involving elevated temperatures.
The plates are fully autoclavable at 121 °C. This enables sterilisation and decontamination after use, provided reuse is permitted by the applicable laboratory protocol.
A raised alphanumeric index makes individual wells easier to locate and supports clear sample registration. This contributes to a controlled workflow and helps reduce the risk of sample mix-ups.
The subtly raised rim surrounding each well helps limit the spread of liquid between adjacent wells. The design also supports even contact with a suitable sealing solution.
The compact, stackable design allows multiple plates to be positioned efficiently on the workbench, in an incubator or in storage. The standardised format also supports the processing of larger numbers of samples in automated workflows.
Matching silicone mats are available for sealing the Deep Well Plates. The range includes a universal cross-cut mat for plates with square well openings and pierceable versions for round 1.0 and 2.0 mL wells. The mats help limit evaporation, spillage and cross-contamination between wells and, depending on the version, allow samples to be accessed without removing the entire mat.
