Cryo Boxes

Plastic and cardboard boxes for organised sample storage
Cryo Boxes

Product description

AHN® maxxLine® Cryo Boxes are designed for the organised storage, identification and internal transport of Cryo Vials and other laboratory tubes. The range includes durable plastic Cryo Boxes and versatile cardboard Cryo Boxes. Different formats, heights, colours and divider configurations make it possible to select a suitable storage solution for a wide variety of sample types and freezer systems.

Plastic Cryo Boxes

The plastic AHN® maxxLine® Cryo Boxes are manufactured from high-quality polypropylene. They have external dimensions of 130 × 130 mm and feature a fixed 9 × 9 divider with capacity for up to 81 Cryo Vials.

Three heights are available, depending on the Cryo Vial volume:

  • 50 mm for 1.0 and 2.0 mL Cryo Vials;
  • 80 mm for 4.0 mL Cryo Vials;
  • 90 mm for 5.0 mL Cryo Vials.

The plastic boxes withstand temperatures ranging from -90 to 121 °C and can be autoclaved at 121 °C. They are not intended for storage at -196 °C or for use in liquid nitrogen.

Clear sample identification

Moulded alphanumeric coding in both the lid and base makes it easier to determine the position of individual samples while the box is open or closed.

The transparent lid supports rapid visual inspection of the contents. The base is available in blue, green, red, yellow and clear. These colours can be used to distinguish sample types, research groups, storage periods or laboratory departments.

Ventilation and drainage holes

Openings in the base of the plastic Cryo Boxes support cold-air circulation around the stored Cryo Vials. This helps facilitate efficient cooling. The openings also allow any liquid present inside the box to drain away.

Cardboard Cryo Boxes

The cardboard AHN® maxxLine® Cryo Boxes are manufactured from sturdy cardboard with a water-repellent coating. This coating protects the box against moisture damage and provides additional resistance to alcohols and mild organic solvents.

The cardboard boxes withstand temperatures down to -80 °C. They are available with external dimensions of 133 × 133 or 136 × 136 mm and, depending on the version, in heights of 32, 50, 75, 100 and 130 mm.

The writable exterior allows additional sample, project or storage information to be added directly to the box. The cardboard Cryo Boxes are manufactured from recyclable materials.

With or without dividers

The cardboard Cryo Boxes are available with an integrated 9 × 9 or 10 × 10 divider. Versions without a fixed divider are also available and can be combined with a separate cardboard divider.

Boxes without dividers are available in white, blue, green, red and yellow. The different colours support rapid visual classification of samples and storage locations.

Separate dividers

Separate dividers are available for cardboard Cryo Boxes without a fixed layout. Depending on the height of the box and the outside diameter of the tubes, configurations ranging from 3 × 3 to 16 × 16 are available.

The selected divider determines the number of tubes that fit inside the box and their maximum outside diameter. Please contact us for advice on the appropriate combination of box height, divider configuration and tube diameter.
